I’ve heard a lot of people saying they deleted FB & IG and it was the best thing they ever did. I love seeing your work on IG, so I’m glad you’re still there, but I totally understand if you change your mind later.

I have met a lot of cool artsy folks on the different social media platforms, so I don’t find it too stressful or like I’m wasting my time. My big time suck is YouTube. There’s so many interesting things to watch. That one would be hard for me to take a break from or give up.

Anyway, I enjoyed reading your post as always! Hope you’re having a good weekend!

I think when you are using your platform like I am at the moment - to get attention to my work to sell my classes then it can be very easy to compare yourself to other. I also have people stealing my work, and leaving nasty comments so it can be hard for me. I am glad you are not having those issues!

I found you on IG via Kelly Ann Maddox talking about your depth year. I immediately followed you and love your resourceful crafting. I made a choice to stop social (except for substack)for the entirety of 2025-as an act of commitment to the hermit year as well as a practice of reclaiming my attention and mind. I was happy to find you here so I can continue to read about your depth year and creative/witchy practices. Wanted to share and was also inspired by your decision to do a depth year. I can't say I have deeply thought about it but have chosen to practice a lot more discernment about what I buy and why and that is because of you, and Kelly of course. Anyway! Thanks for sharing here 💖

FWIW, I would like to let you know how important your presence on social media has been to my personal artistic/spiritual growth and freedom. Be careful when you judge your draw towards getting attention from an audience. There could be a very important reason that goes beyond yourself. You’ve made a huge difference in my life. And, all that said, I certainly respect you evaluating your own needs and desires and adjusting accordingly. All the best to you in finding the right balance 😘 I think you and the work you do are awesome. Thank you 💗

"I so hyper focused on view counts and followers on instagram if in my real life I just wanted to be left alone" <-- I'm also obsessed with this idea (and yes, money is the answer...but le link between views and business is a mystery for me)

You questions are so interresting ! I keep them for journaling later. Thank you for this note <3

The link between views and business is still a mystery to me too - except for brand deals where big corporations think they mean something LOL. Thank you for being here as always! xo

I turned off my notifications on Instagram a while back and have found so much peace just from that. I don't think I noticed your absence because I've cut back on social (except for work) and I get your Substack newsletters. What I loved most about this post is this:

"I want to allow myself a soft and quiet life but I also want a life where I am outside in my community being of service to others. To help others grow and expand."

Over the past year I've been figuring out how I can feel and want things that seem to almost be the opposite of each other at the same time. And I also want the above. I'm working on both - enjoying a quiet and soft life as resistance (which for me means resting and rebalancing constantly) and then I'm more able to be in my community and support others because I've taken care of myself.

Thank you for reading. It is so easy to get caught up in the nonsense you forget to do what is best for yourself so you can continue to be of service to others.

I deleted insta and FB last month and the only thing I missed about Insta was you and the other incredible artists I followed. I am so glad to see youand others here but I understand these questions you are asking yourself. I left behind my creative side business years ago but one of the things I hated was trying to sell myself on social media. It just never felt like it fit my personality. I just don't like to share myself with the world. 🤣 Anywho... I'm glad to see you here and understand a bit of what you're feeling. ❤️

Yes I got off Facebook in 2020 and never miss it! I got rid of my personal instagram account at the same time.

Omg I just read your post in awe!! I can’t tell you how often I’ve wanted to deactivate my IG account and just live in the real world. Instagram becomes so addictive and so time-consuming, and —I so often wonder—to what end?

In any case, I’m so inspired by what you’ve written here. Thank you so much for sharing your story!

You can try like I did and just delete the app for a few days without deactivating to see how you feel.

I officially deleted my TikTok account, IG, Twitter and FB, this past weekend! So much of what you said here is the reason I did it. I have a business I’m growing, but the energy in the spaces did not feel good— and I’m learning to trust myself . And self-trust comes in different ways and forms! Happy that you gave yourself the experience. Thank you for sharing your reflections with us 💗

Yes! It feels so liberating to move away from energy that does not feel good. Thank you for reading!
